Guest List Week 2014: Chris' Top Ten

It's the triumphant return of Guest List Week!  Every day from now until I run out of lists, we'll take a look at 2014 through the eyes of people who are not me.  (My list, if you missed it, is here).  I'm lucky that my friends have such uniformly exquisite taste in music.

Next up, it's a Guest List Week debut for Chris Klotzbach! Do I wish I could make every Guest List Week blogger go back and fill out the introductory "My Name Is" survey Chris that created for himself? Of course I do. Chris is a visionary.

2014 Guest List Top 10: Chris K

MY NAME IS: Chris K

I AM A: professional emailer and meeting attendee

MY DREAM JOB IS: professional exerciser and couch sitter

MY SIGNATURE POSE IS: single peace sign (double if I’m feeling sassy)

I WOULD DESCRIBE MY MUSICAL TASTE AS: that of 12 year old try hard

I LIKE MUSIC THAT: gives me an immediate visceral reaction and can be played on repeat for at least three months

I MET AARON AT: Hi-Tops after my boyfriend picked him/Ilana up

CHRIS K TOP 10 2014

I like this song because I yearn to cry (love catharsis) but really only do it in extreme physical or emotional duress or when incredibly intoxicated… THIS SONG MADE ME CRY IM SO HAPPY + MARY J BLIGE!!!!!!!!
This song reminds me of a time when I listened with 4 friends and we all cried.

I like this song because it makes me want to groove by myself for hours on end.
This song reminds me of a time when I made a top 10 list for Aaron last year that I never shared and it was comprised almost exclusively of Haim songs.

Artist/Song: Mapei / Don’t Wait
I like this song because it’s mesmerizing, beautiful and unique.
This song reminds me of a time when it came out in 2013 (album dropped in 2014).

I like this song because Robyn is the best, the beat is great, it’s fun to sing and dance to and ROBYN IS THE BEST.
This song reminds me of a time when I went to a Robyn concert and she got into the birthing position on the floor of that stage and thrusted for six minutes straight.

I like this song because it’s so silly/stupid/makes me smile and gets better with repeat exposure.  Also because it spawned a remix that justifies the existence of Nicki Minaj and the internet.
This song reminds me of a time when I watched the video and remix with my entire family at my grandmother’s 95th birthday and my Mom couldn't stop talking about how much she loves Nicki Minaj.

I like this song because it’s wonderful and Tove Lo is a Swedish pop star dream. Tove sounds so much better live than her album tracks and that makes me happy.  Also the name Tove derives from Old Norse and means Beautiful Thor.  SO COOL.
This song reminds me of a time when I went SXSW 2014, had no reason to be there, and was drunk and full for 72 hours.

I like this song because if I had to pick a song to play in the background of my idealized youth video montage it would be this.
This song reminds me of sticky summer nights in the burbs driving around in my air conditioner-less Jeep.  (woof so cheesy)

I like this song because sounds, feelings, beat. Repeat factor in full play here.
This song reminds me of a time when I don’t speak/understand French and have no idea what this song says or means.

I like this song because Taylor says “out of the woods” 40 times and “in the clear” 36 times and I genuinely like songs that repeat themselves.  Also, I have a thing where I love when pop stars process down a runway (preferably with a pack behind them) and the bridge in this song is perfect for that, see:
AHHH, THEY ARE HAVING SO MUCH FUN
This song reminds me of a time when I dream of being a pop star that has a cadre of dancers dance-marching behind me as I skip down a runway/stage.

I like this song because the episode of South Park that it came from is genius and I’m feeling good on a Wednesday.  Also I want to be friends with Sia.  Everyone listen to this interview.
This song reminds me of a time when I ran the NYC marathon and sang this song in my head for over 3 hours.

BONUS PICK ME UP:
I like this song because you can sing the hook as “I’m a black wittle baby,” which is hysterical E V E R Y  S I N G L E  T I M E.
