It's Day Two of the Tip of Your Tongue, Top of My Lungs year-end extravaganza! 100 Songs for 2011 will be available December 5. Until then, we're taking a daily look at five good songs that didn't make the cut. Today's theme: Critical Acclaim.
It's easy to be taken in by a well-written positive review. When Pitchfork anoints the next "It" band, it feels like a personal shortcoming if I don't see the greatness. Still, with these five, I have to admit that I just see "good," not "great."
James Blake - "The Wilhelm Scream"
Pitchfork Says: 9.0
Lana Del Rey - "Video Games"
For the love of God, won't someone write an essay about the cultural significance of Lana Del Rey?
Washed Out - "Amor Fati"
Pitchfork Says: 8.3
Real Estate - "It's Real"
Pitchfork Says: 8.7
The War on Drugs - "Come to the City"
Pitchfork Says: 8.3
