It's a constant balancing act, running a blog read by literally dozens of people. A lot of positive feedback regarding the move to Spotify, but a surprising number of people who miss the MP3s. So I guess we'll try to do both. Here's your MP3 ZIP link:
This blog loves you. Don't ever forget it.
Notes on the July mix: Spotify comes through with 26 of the 36 songs I wanted to include, but misses a few of the very best ones. If you only have time to listen to one song this month, please please please make it the Radiator Hospital song linked below, potentially my Song of the Year at this point. And really all ten of the non-Spotify songs are worth your time. HAIM maintains their position behind only CHVRCHES and Trails and Ways on my "Bands Who Have Never Ever Done Anything Less Than Perfect and How Dare You Suggest Otherwise" list.
If you're not feeling the Regina Spektor song on first listen, I suggest binge-watching Orange is the New Black and then coming back to it. Really, you should do this anyway.
As always, thanks for listening.
Dead Girlfriends – "Stop Pretending"
Autre Ne Veut – "On & On"
We are Scientists – "Something about You"
Mountain Goats – "You & Me & a High Balcony (Demo)"
Love your blog, man. This new format makes it a lot more difficult to listen to all the songs. The convenience of downloading and adding to itunes is gone now, so I likely won't have the time or means to listen to all of them anymore. But I guess I can't argue with being compliant. Rock on.
ReplyDeleteYep, looks like I was too quick to abandon MP3s - see above. Hope you're still listening.
DeleteSadly I won't likely be checking back if I can't get zip downloads; I liked to listen to the playlist several times and then pay for my favorites at the end of the month ... and I just don't have time to listen to music at home on my comp, unfortunately. :(

Deletehave to say I agree with the above comments...i don't listen to music on my computer, only on my ipod, so streaming no good for me. Also spotify is pretty patchy in my country. However I want to say thanks for the all the great music you've put me on to over the past couple of years.
