Claren (age 9), Arden (5), and Kellen's son Emerson (6) teamed up on their own collaborative list. We guided them by suggesting that two songs each from KPOP Demon Hunters and The Minecraft Movie was enough, and taking out older songs that they only discovered this year, but otherwise the list is their own. Don't judge us parents for all the swear words!
It's exciting to see the kids' music choices develop. It is a regular scene to wake up to find Claren already on her iPad with her headphones on finding new songs on Spotify. Arden figured out how to queue up songs when she was 3, so she has it down - to the detriment of my Spotify algorithm. When I asked Claren what she liked about discovering new music, she said, “the beats.” Arden said, “I like to learn the words.” So there you have it folks, some beats and some words from the next generation.
