Desa’s Guest List 2021 (feat. Kellen and Katie)
Whereas music in 2020 was a means of survival, I found my go-to songs in 2021 were a return to old friends, to comfort, to some normalcy. Julia Michaels, Billie Eilish, Lorde, MUNA, Maren Morris, Halsey, Elle King, Miranda Lambert, Kacey Musgraves, Lord Huron, and Taylor Swift have all made appearances on my past Guest Lists. But after 2020, their return felt new and good for the soul. This year, I danced with friends to “brutal” and “All Your Exes” and discussed the release of Red (Taylor’s Version) over brunch. I even talked about this Guest List with Aaron and Ilana at a real life bar (!!) – each experience viewed with new appreciation and gratitude. So cheers to gradually and safely resuming our lives to a soundtrack with new songs from old friends.

*Yes, I added this because the artist shares my name. But she also sings about Janet Yellen drinking mojitos because she manages The Mint and you can’t top that for a clever lyric.
