Love doing this every year - super slammed at the moment with work, new baby, new house, etc etc but can't not do it so below is my super quick take. I will say one of my favorite things with the baby is playing different kinds of music for her - imagine it's literally the first time you've ever heard a song for every song you hear! 

Phew, here's my list:

1. Sharon Van Etten - "Seventeen"

So good cause everyone remembers being a teenager, right? 

2. Angel Olsen - "Lark"

Solid use of strings, Angel.

3. FONTAINES D.C. - "Boys in the Better Land"

One of my favorite albums this year, hard not to air drum to this one.

4. Vampire Weekend - "Sympathy"

File this one in the 'Songs That Make You Move' category.

5. Bon Iver - "Hey, Ma"

Reminds me to call my mother (which is good). 

6. Brittany Howard - "Stay High"

Feels good to feel good.

7. FKA twigs - "sad day"

Production is tops, plus that line 'I lie naked and pure with intentions to cleanse you and take you' ... whoa.

8. Mark Ronson, Angel Olsen - "True Blue"

This one got stuck in my head for a while.

9. Big Thief - "Not"

Two amazing albums, one year.

10. Lana Del Ray - "The Greatest"

Was never a huge Lana fan, but it appears she's captured something here.  

11. Pond - "Hand Mouth Dancer"

Aussie psych rock ... 'kiss me I don't care, if you don't comb your hair.'

12. HAIM - "Summer Girl"

Nice song, wonder if Lou Reed would approve.

13. Weyes Blood - "Movies"

This thing escalates quite beautifully. 

14. Jay Som - "Superbike"

East Bay, baby.

15. Big Thief - "Cattails" 

Allowed to pick another Big Thief song cause it's a whole different album and everything.

16. Lucy Dacus - "Forever Half Mast"

Making sense of living in America with all its gluttony and glory.    

17. Toro y Moi - "Freelance"

Walk on the water-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r for me.

18. Michael Kiwanuka - "Rolling"

Rolling with the times, don't be late (get it?).

19. Deerhunter - "What Happens to People?"

Very good question indeed.
